Deonne Brown Benedict was recently honored with the Award for Excellence, as Washington state's 2010 Nurse Practitioner of the Year.  The award is given for outstanding contributions in practice to one nurse practitioner annually. 

Deonne will be honored at the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner's annual conference in June in Phoenix, AZ. Some of her accomplishments include serving as faculty for graduate nurse practitioner students, chairing public relations for the state through ARNPs United, serving on the Washington state NP legislative committee, which has been successful in passing bills important for increasing patient access to care, and publications in The Nurse Practitioner, the Journal of Nursing Education, the Journal of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Clinician Reviews, Advance for Nurse Practitioners, and upcoming book chapters on mental health practice guidelines and the DNP entrepreneur.
